Peony牡丹
$300.00
The king of flowers, hand-pinched in white porcelain — a Luoyang peony that doubles as an aroma diffuser.
In Chinese tradition the peony is the king of flowers — the emblem of honour, prosperity and spring at its fullest. For over a thousand years, from the courts of the Tang dynasty to the gardens of Luoyang, poets have sung its praises: “Truly the only national beauty — when it blooms, the whole capital stirs.” In feng shui it is the flower that invites wealth and honour into the home.
This bloom is shaped entirely by hand in the old Luoyang manner — petal by petal, pinch by pinch — then fired in a porcelain kiln to a moon-white stillness. Each flower takes more than a week of patient work, and because every petal is pressed by hand, no two blooms are ever quite alike.
It is made to be lived with, not merely looked at. The unglazed porcelain drinks in fragrance: place a few drops of your favourite essential oil on the petals and the flower slowly breathes scent into the room. It arrives in a keepsake gift box — a quiet way to give beauty, luck and a little history.
